Takayama's voice is probably better known to overseas audiences as the highly talented Japanese voice actress for a wide variety of animé characters. She also does video game character voices, movie/TV voice-overs, and radio dramas. You can find out more about her voice-acting career here.

Her talents as a voice actress are also apparent in TWO-MIX songs through her vocal expressiveness and the differences in tone of voice from song to song. For Takayama, singing is perhaps just an extension of voice acting.

Takayama has been leading an active life as a musician in parallel with her voice acting career, starting with the now long-disbanded Indies band "RE-X". The band apparently consisted of two other female members and their activities were centered around live performances. Takayama has also recorded a full length solo-album for which she composed most of the songs. Another gem that fans may be interested in is the opening instrumental theme which Takayama (credited as "MINAMI") composed and recorded for volume 2 of the "Rurouni Kenshin" CD book series.
